How long will THC-JD and THCH be legal in Sweden?

THC-JD and THCH will be legal in Sweden until December 9, 2024. During this time, their legal status remains unchanged.

We plan to sell off our inventory up until about a week before the legislative change takes effect.

When will THC-JD and THCH become illegal?

From December 10, 2024, THCH and THC-JD will be classified as narcotics, which means that it will be illegal to possess, sell, buy or use these substances in Sweden.

Important dates and steps in the process:

– At the end of October, the Public Health Agency submitted a proposal to the Government to classify 20 new substances as narcotics or substances hazardous to health.

– The Public Health Agency's proposal included a number of cannabinoids, including THCH and THC-JD.

– On November 7, the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced in a press release that the Government had decided to classify these 20 substances as narcotics or goods hazardous to health.

– The amendment to the law will enter into force on December 10, 2024.

Will more substances be banned?

Yes, in connection with the upcoming legislative change, several substances will be banned and regulated. Of the 20 substances covered by the decision, seven are cannabinoids, of which five are classified as narcotics and two as goods hazardous to health.

New cannabinoids classified as narcotics:

  • Delta-8-THCH
  • Delta-9-THCH (THCH)
  • Delta-8-THC-C8
  • Delta-9-THC-C8 (THC-JD)
  • HHCP acetate

New cannabinoids classified as hazardous to health:

  • HHCH
  • Delta-9-THCP acetate

Summary

This is the third round of “new cannabinoids” to be banned in Sweden. Previously, HHC, THCP and HHCO have been added to the list of substances classified as narcotics.

Note that although THCH and THC-JD will soon become illegal in Sweden, they will remain legal in some other countries both within and outside the EU. However, from December 10, 2024, it will be illegal to buy, possess or import products containing these substances into Sweden – regardless of whether they are purchased from Swedish or international retailers.
