THCh vs THCjd: Benefits, Risks and Side Effects

THCh vs THCjd: Fördelar, Risker och Biverkningar

THCh is natural

THCh was discovered by the same Italian researchers who also happened to come across and isolated tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THCP).

THC is a natural phytocannabinoid found in the hemp plant, similar to how THC and CBG are found in cannabis. However, THCh is found in such small amounts that it needs to be created synthetically to create THCh products in abundance. And yes. THC has psychoactive and psychotropic properties. This means it produces a high. It is said to be up to ten times stronger than typical THC. But THC is still less potent than THCP , which is estimated to be 33 times more potent than Delta 9 THC. These estimates and effects have not yet been confirmed by human studies.

THCjd Cannabinoid

As well as THC THCjd is new to the alternative cannabinoid market. It is one of the newest phytocannabinoids to be discovered, and we don't even know who discovered it! As THC and Delta 8 is a homologue of THC. This means they share the same functional group and have similar chemical properties. THCjd is also found in trace amounts in the hemp plant, just like THCh. So all products that contain THCjd is done through cannabinoid conversion. But because THCjd is so new we don't know anything concrete about it or its effects beyond anecdotal reports. There are currently no published or peer-reviewed studies on it yet. Over time we should have research, but right now we're going by what consumers of THCjd has to say about it.

THCh vs THCjd

We know very little about these compounds at the moment, and most of the information comes from consumers who have tried products on the market that contain these compounds.

Both are THC homologues

From a scientific point of view, both THC and THCjd homologs of Delta 9 THC.

As such, they are very similar in molecular structure and behave similarly when consumed. They likely interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors like other cannabinoids.

THC is also known as Tetrahydrocannabinol-C6 or THC-C6. C6 stands for the six-carbon group attached to its alkyl side chain.

THC only has one five-carbon atom attachment on its alkyl side chain. Some theorize that this is because of the longer side chain in THC which makes this specific cannabinoid more potent.

Yes, THC is more potent than THC.

On the other hand, as well as THCh , has THCjd a longer carbon chain on its alkyl side chain. But there THC has a hexyl (six carbon atoms) carbon chain, has THCjd an octyl (eight carbon atoms) carbon chain!

You know what that means.

If THC has six carbon atoms and is believed to have increased potency due to the extra carbon atom on the chain, imagine a phytocannabinoid that THCjd who has eight!

Since cannabinoids generally bind to CB1 and CB2 receptors in our bodies through these side chains, it is believed that the length of the carbon chain appears to significantly increase receptor binding and thus the psychoactive potency of the cannabinoid.

THCh vs THCjd products

THCjd appears to be about eighteen to nineteen times higher than Delta 9 THC based on the size of the carbon chain as it is somewhere between THC and THCP.

In a research publication , the theory was postulated that the number of carbon atoms (be they hexyl, heptyl, or octyl) leads to an increase in affinity with CB1 and CB2 receptors found throughout our body.

Researchers believe that an increase in chain length leads to increased binding with cannabinoid receptors. However, results have not yet been drawn specifically on new cannabinoids such as THCh , THCP and THCjd .

THCh vs THCjd products

These compounds are so new, and the manufacturers of these products mix in other cannabinoids, so we can't be 100% sure about their individual effects.

For example, they regularly mix in Delta 8 with THCh vape . So we don't really know if it's Delta 8 that's responsible for how people feel or if it's THC (or even other compounds).

Current products on the market that contain THC or THCjd typically have four or five different cannabinoids in varying ratios. Not to mention, they also add terpenes to create the individual flavors and effects of the “strains.”

These products are more or less THC , or THCjd enriched, rather than dominant. And in most of these products, the dominant cannabinoid is Delta 8 THC.

Because of this, it is more than likely that you will not get the full effect of THC or THCjd in isolation.

THCjd & THCh testing

When it comes to third-party testing standards, there is another big problem. There are no third-party testing standards because these phytocannabinoids are new to the market.

Because these compounds are so new, there are no established standards, meaning labs don't have a baseline for what is 100% pure. THC or THCjd .

The best you will find currently is a mass spectrometer, which is incomprehensible to most consumers because they don't know how to read one.

Basically, it is not as accurate or informative for a consumer as looking at a proper certificate of analysis would be.

Eventually, we expect these third-party testing standards to be established in the future, but for now, potency testing is unclear.

However, with some companies known for providing sound and thoroughly tested alternative cannabinoids like Delta 8, HHC, or THC-O, these companies would be the best choice to get a product that at least truly contains THC or THCjd .

Final thoughts on THCh vs THCjd

We are very early in the discovery process to learn the full potential of what these two phytocannabinoids can do. Their exact short- and long-term health effects are still largely unknown.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the cannabinoid industry from now on. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

And if you want to try THC or THCjd , consume at your own risk and always do your due diligence in case consumption of these products is illegal in your state. Enjoy responsibly.
